Sometimes an enticing building and its surroundings make the experience more fulfilling. Oftentimes the esthetics are overlooked in utilitarian buildings. of course content is most important but I say Kudos to those who look to inspire the heart as well the mind.

When at UCSD, I heard the possibly apocryphal story that the architectural engineering on Geisel Library was done wrong and they had to use extra concrete pillars–once the realized they had forgotten to include the extra weight of the books in their load calculations.
