The Best View From a Hotel Room in the Caribbean

The Best View From a Hotel Room in the Caribbean

You are planning your honeymoon, or a trip celebrating some other special occasion, and you are looking for a hotel room that is as special as the reason for your travels. You want to find a resort with accommodations that cause you to gasp WOW, that will make you say to yourself “I’ve never stayed in a room this nice before. I might never stay at a room this nice again.”

In the Caribbean, the room you are looking for is at the Jade Mountain Resort.

The Best View From a Hotel Room in the Caribbean

A review of the Jade Mountain Resort, St. Lucia, CaribbeanThe Jade Mountain is part of the Anse Chastanet Resort, which is a cool place to stay in its own right. The Anse Chastanet is perched along a postcard-perfect beach in the island nation of St. Lucia. It has all the amenities of a high end Caribbean beach resort—the spa, the pool, the attentive waitstaff to bring you the drink with the umbrella in it while you are lounging in the hammock. This being St. Lucia, which like neighboring Dominica is lush and jungle-filled, the Anse Chastanet also has an outdoorsy side you don’t find at most Caribbean resorts. The resort organizes a variety of hikes and nature walks for its guests and its grounds include 12 miles (19 km) of private mountain biking trails.

The Jade Mountain resort-within-a-resort blends into the hillside above Anse Chastanet. Its 24 infinity pool suites—the resort refers to each of these as a “sanctuary”—have an open wall that looks out over the strikingly green Piton Mountains and the Caribbean sea. There is no view from a hotel room anywhere in the Caribbean that is more stunning!

As if there wasn’t enough nature to look at outside of the rooms, each sanctuary is adorned with a variety of local plant life.

The bathrooms in the sanctuaries have designer European his-and-her sinks, rain showers with six adjustable height body sprays, and a whirlpool—with mountain and ocean views from all of it. And we haven’t even gotten to the best part yet:

Each sanctuary comes with your own private infinity pool! The pools are each placed at the room’s edge. The vistas from your pool might better than from any other point in your room.

A review of the Jade Mountain Resort, St. Lucia, CaribbeanJade Mountain has its own private gym and spa—we suggest either the chocolate spa treatment (it uses locally grown cocoa beans) or the “Menage-a-Spa” treatment that’s conducted by three therapists at once. Guests at Jade Mountain also have access to all of the Anse Chastanet Resort amenities including its mountain biking trails, two sand beaches, ocean kayaks and snorkeling.

Of course, all of this doesn’t come cheap. Rates at smallest Star Sanctuary (see photo, below) run from around $1,200/night in the lowest season to $1500+ at peak times. The costs at the outrageously impressive Sun Sanctuary are $1,600 and $2,100, respectively. There’s a mid-range Moon Sanctuary option too. The basic rates don’t include the 18% tax.

For the best deals we highly suggest booking the all inclusive package that includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea and snacks as well as unlimited beverages (house wine, beer and other alcoholic drinks using premium brands included), free reign over your stocked in-suite mini-fridge, use of the tennis court and equipment, use of non-motorized equipment for sports such as snorkeling, ocean kayaking, sunfish sailing, windsurfing and mountain biking. The all inclusive package covers all taxes and gratuities too. Add that up and you are looking at around $2000 per night for two people, give or take (give, probably) a few hundred dollars.

That’s expensive. But we know of Westin and Marriott hotel suites that cost around the same price without the all inclusive features and without the WOW views of the spectacular infinity pool sanctuaries. Truly, Jade Mountain is a special place to spend a special occasion.

In fact, we would really, really love to experience more of this beautiful, relaxing place ourselves. So, if you go, could you take us along? We could carry your bags. We don’t eat much and would spend our time in the infinity pool out of your way. You’d be so busy marveling at the views you’d hardly notice we were there.
